Our wonderful, warm, kind mum moved on from this world in the early hours of 1 November, with Vicki and I alongside her.
It's fair to say mum was strong and brave, and really didn't want to leave 'her girls.' She lived courageously, with much laughter and wit, right until her final hours.
As many of you will know, mum worked alongside children at the local primary school for over 30 years, and dedicated much of her life to us, her daughters, and in more recent years, her two grandchildren, Hallie and Ava who brought her such joy.
We miss her hugely already and her passing has left an irreplaceable void in our lives. But, we are so thankful to her for continually wrapping us in love and for the wisdom, guidance and lessons she shared with us.
During her final weeks, mum made the decision that should anyone want to make a gesture in her memory, she would like to invite donations to Shooting Star Chase. Mum's beautiful cousin Jane has worked alongside this charity for many years and mum was always touched by the stories she told.
Shooting Star Chase care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months, or years, they make every moment count. Their services are available 365 days of the year, and their teams work with families across Surrey and London.
It costs £10 million a year to run Shooting Star Children's Hospices and just 30% of their funding comes from the government, so they rely on supporters’ generosity to keep services running.
If you feel you would like to make a donation in memory of our mum, it will be gratefully received and make a huge difference to a child and their family. But equally, lighting a candle, or sharing a thought is also most welcome.
For those of you who would like to join us in remembering mum at a remembrance service, please do get in touch for details.
We miss you mum. Thank you for being the best and for the love that you shared with so many.
